Feronia’s November

img_0415-1When the colder weather has begun to really influence what we do in our spare time and everything we do in our downtime revolves around the indoors, it is so important to go outside and take in nature and how beautiful it is in November. This birth of the Winter season, when the leaves have almost all gone, and the ground is bare and crisp it is the perfect time for long walks and enjoying winters beauty. It is a mixture of frosty diamond like encrusted mornings and the feelings of Christmas on the way that give November it’s magical feeling.img_0394-2img_0389-2 In Ancient Roman religion Feronia was the goddess of wildernesses and wild woods, whose festival the Romans celebrated every November. Feronia was a goddess associated with wildlife, health and abundance. Even when the trees are bare and any sign of life is gone Feronia nurtures the roots to make sure when spring comes around again that life will appear on its branches again.

According to mythology when a fire destroyed Feronia’s woods and the locals were about to move the statues of worship to the goddess to another location, the burnt wood turned green all of a sudden and were brought back to life. I adore the myths and legends of the Romans as their mythology is deeply connected with nature and the seasons.

According to Roman tradition, when November is in full swing Feronia is the goddess who arrives with festive energies and earths riches as a ‘pick me up’.img_0463img_0461-2img_0467The glam season is coming soon and November is the month that all our minds turn to party season style. Whether you’re looking for the perfect party dress, or just something elegant to wear, dressing for the festive season is the time to treat yourself.  I love some sparkly sequin for Christmas parties but I also try to invest in pieces I know I will wear again. Tailored dresses, elegant separates and feminine blouses are all things I know I will wear again but for Christmas I can dress them up with high heels and clutch bags.img_0504-1I fell in love with Hybrid when I discovered their dresses online and featured their beige and navy fitted dress in my last post. “Have you ever noticed a tree standing naked against the sky,
How beautiful it is?
All its branches are outlined, and in its nakedness
There is a poem, there is a song.
Every leaf is gone and it is waiting for the spring.
When the spring comes, it again fills the tree with
The music of many leaves,
Which in due season fall and are blown away.
And this is the way of life.”
