“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the Summer.”
– F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great GatsbySummer is my favourite season and July, my most favourite month! There is such a lightness in the air, everyone is a little happier and when the sun shines there is no where I would rather be than strolling through a city park.
We all know how hard it is to dress for summer in Ireland so we tend to not spend lots of money on high summer pieces unless we want to splurge on cute summer dresses for holidays abroad.
As I always always say, the best way to shop for seasonal outfits, especially in Ireland is to buy key pieces. A cute top with a pop of colour will go beautifully with shorts in the Summer but the next week when its thunderstorms you can still get to wear it with jeans. Even when some days don’t feel warm enough to be Summer, it is not an excuse to rely on a mix of your Spring, Autumn and Winter wardrobe.
Instead I take my wardrobe basics I already own, including jeans, light jackets, sweaters and tee’s and find some gorgeous Summer pieces that are everywhere right now, and mix and match them into what you already have, to create new looks suitable for ‘Irish Summer’ When I was outfitting and styling my looks for this blog post I wanted to really show how, when you separate each pieces of clothing and shoes away from each other, you can create completely new outfits by mixing and matching the pieces with the basics you already own. Each skirt in both my looks I can wear with light sweaters, my bright hot pink Primark flute sleeved cotton top can be teamed with fitted suit style black pants when August creeps in and the cropped back bra-let top with black high waist-ed ankle grazers for the Autumn. The high street is always my go to for pretty new outfits and every year Primark is my favourite stop for summer trends that are so stylish and affordable. When it comes to shoes and summer loafers, it is always a good to spend good…Fashion is fast but good shoes are timeless!
I sometimes struggle with finding perfect summer shoes as I am either dressed uber feminine or classic black and white so I made a promise to myself this season to choose beautiful designer footwear that I can pair with my outfits no matter what the occasion. I was so excited to tap into my love of all things pink and choose the brightest colour from the Melvin Scarlett loafer range. I wear lots of understated skirts and dresses in the Summer and love to pair them with bold accessories. The Rose Scarlett loafer is so beautiful and full of character that they bring any outfit to life! For me, they represent the real life version of a grown up princess shoe! The hand-embroidered patterns are very Marie Antoinette inspired and one of Harper’s Bazaars’ top ten key trends for Summer ’17 includes this exact statement shade of Pink! This colour is everywhere right now and is Instagram’s favourite hue for the Summer season.
For my less princess and more classic looks the Claire suede black loafer with rose gold floral shaped rivets are possible the most beautiful designer shoe I have ever worn! These loafers are so striking yet understated and they are so comfortable and chic! The rose gold studded feature on the front is what I fell in love with as I wear lots of rose gold accessories.
I am very excited to offer all my followers €10 off ANY pair of Melvin and Hamilton shoes on any order of €75 or above.
