Dublin Fashion Festival is the most exciting week of the year for fashion lovers and street style enthusiasts!
Our vibrant city comes alive with a burst of fashion culture and creativeness with designers, stylists, fashion bloggers, photographers, PR teams and clothing stores, to name but a few, all coming together to produce a week filled with everything to create a fashionista’s dream.
The festival brings with it an air of excitement for a week of ‘fashion chic’, from high street to Couture. What I love most about DFF is the diversity of what the festival offers. From the catwalk shows to the photographic exhibitions and everything in between there is something for everyone to enjoy and get their fill of Irish fashion.
Dublin has grown to become a fashion hub in its own right. The Dublin fashion scene has emerged to become a haven of unique style and a great shopping destination thanks to little luxury boutiques, vintage stores and a strong supportive base for entrepreneurial young Irish designers to spread their wings and show how much talent our city has to offer.
DFF showcases, in a dynamic creative way, all the fashion, style, and beauty that Dublin has for us to enjoy through live fashion events and in-store activities, beauty demonstrations and exhibitions of works by designers and fashion photographers From the 5th – 11th September DFF will take over the city with its busy jam-packed schedule of events and shows taking place all over Dublin from Grafton street to Powerscourt Townhouse to the Irish Georgian Society. Luas are one of the sponsors this year for Dublin Fashion festival and this is the perfect pairing as Luas is the chicest way to travel to Dublin Fashion Festival 2016 in style.
Morning dashes around north and south of the city is a normal day for a fashion blogger so Luas is the most efficient way to travel to and from my destinations. I never leave home without my leap card in hand as it is priority for me to always have ease of access to Luas with my busy schedule. Having my leap card means I can tap on and tap off from one destination to another without having to deal with tickets or queues.
Now that smartphones are the technology we all use on a daily basis Luas developed Luas Applications for the Apple iOS and the Android Operating System. The Luas free iPhone App was launched in Apr 2011 and the Luas Android App was launched in Apr 2013.
The Official Luas Apps have all the information you need to make full use of Luas. As I am an android user, the Luas free Android App is an amazing app for people like myself on the go! Meetings, press calls, photoshoots and doing a late evening dash to Dundrum or Jervis street, my app informs me when the next arrival of Luas is so I am not wasting time waiting about.
As a fashion blogger I spend a lot of time on my phone and I-pad so as much as I can I like to avail of the Luas park + ride system in place.
This highly effective way of travelling to the city means I can park my car at ease in one of Luas’s 6 park + ride destinations and then have the time to work on my projects or write a new blog post on the journey.
I can enjoy my time travelling into the city centre without any stress and be productive with my time also. Young Designer of the Year show on the Wednesday evening from 7pm in the Bank of Ireland on College Green. The second highlight for me is attending the Brook’s Hotel to see a cinema screening of ‘Bill Cunningham in New York’, about the life of New York’s most iconic street photographer, and thirdly I am excited to attend the Creative
Creative Quarter Show with Darren Kennedy on Friday evening at 7pm. The is show is the main fashion event for the Friday night of the Dublin Fashion Festival.
I always use the amazing Park by Text service to have my car paid for before I even enter the carpark. I can pay for my parking by text, app, online or phone and the service includes Luas carparks which means I can get to the events in the city without any stress.
As I will be attending these shows late into the evening i will be using Luas to make my way home as the Luas operates from 5:30 – 00:30 am Monday to Friday and 6:30 am to 0:30 am on Saturday so I have the perfect amount of time to attend the fashion festival events and make my way to and from the city with ease on Luas.
