    Stylish dressing – Marbella Style

Marbella is the perfect destination if you love to both relax in casual attire but also bring out the glam vibes in the evening…whether you wear a vibrant flowing colourful kimono or a simple shorts and t-shirt combo daily dressing in Marbella is based on each holiday makers own preference.

Some holiday destinations around Europe are very laid back and the general style is very casual based, while others are the perfect destinations to bring all your chicest outfits to wear on the daily. To have knowledge beforehand of the ‘fashion culture’ of the area is very important if you are to bring the correct clothing. It is in no way a case of not wearing what you feel like wearing but more so if the area is very rugged or there is a lot of walking to get to restaurants, the beach or the city For example, you will 100% get to wear your heels in Marbella but not so much a good idea (or not a good idea at all) to bring your heels to go to dinner in the Medina in Marrakesh.

As Marbella is located on the Southern tip of Spain the weather remains in the mid to late 20 degrees until the end of October start of November. A general week in Marbella can be spent having the perfect mix of relaxed beach days and exploring the city and outskirts. Packing for a trip to Marbella will include a variety of summer dresses bikinis, shorts and some dressy dresses for the evenings

My top 10 things to do in Marbella include everything from watching the sunset to cycling to Porto Banus. I have compiled a list of my 10 favourite things to do on your visit, where to do them and what is the best outfits to wear.

1:Have a beach day – Having a beach day is the best way to begin your week of sunshine. As you stroll down the boardwalk there are many companies renting beach beds for the day. From your bed you can avail of table service for drinks and snacks and if you arrive early (approx 11am) you can get a front row bed which will guarantee you a dream like view for the whole day. My favourite place to have a chilled beach day is at Cappuccino Marbella. Everything from beautiful wooden beach beds with cream cozy cushions to beach towels are provided, glass of Rose in hand and life is complete!

Clothing for a beach day is pretty self-explanatory, all you need is a bikini and some sunny’s. Beachy plaits are the perfect complement to your look. There is a lady who will come to your beach bed and braid your hair for €20 and it remains perfect until you decide to take it out.2: Watch the sunset – If you visit the beach in the afternoon you are most likely to still be there to witness the sun go down over the mountains. In my opinion this is the most beautiful time in the evening. When the sun is almost disappeared I like to walk along the edge of the sea and count all my blessings and how lucky I am to be in this beautiful place. Having a beach kimono on hard to put on when the sun is gone means you don’t have to rush off the beach earlier than you want to.

3: Cycle to Puerto Banús – This is one of the most fun things you can do while visiting Marbella. I usually like to pick a day that’s semi overcast or not as warm as you don’t want to be cycling in the basking sun. In my opinion the best time to do the cycle is in the late afternoon or early morning (avoiding 12-3pm when the sun is hottest). The main company to hire bikes from are Rent4FunMabella. Diego is so friendly and helpful and there is a few options of bike hire, you can hire for the day or you can also keep the bike overnight if you would like to visit the Port in the evening and cycle back later that night.

Shorts are the perfect clothing choice for a cycle to the Port because if you are like me and don’t cycle on a regular basis then you will have sore legs for a day or two afterwards. It’s is most definitely worth it though as the views along the Golden Mile are breath-taking.

4: Find a Room with a View – If you decide to stay in an apartment on your stay then consider paying a little extra to get an amazing sea view! It also doubles up as a perfect place to sunbath and have breakfast in the mornings. Waking up to this view every morning makes for a beautiful start to the day. A bikini and a beach dress is the perfect combo for a day of chilling in the apartment.

5: Visit the old town – The old town is possibly my favourite part of visiting Marbella. It is a beautiful town filled with quaint boutiques delicious restaurants and cute houses with billowing flowers tipping over every wall. As the old town is compacted into a series of little cobbled streets, it doesn’t benefit from the sea breeze so I can be quite heavy and warm. The best outfit choice for a visit to the Old Town is a light floaty dress or linen shorts and a cute top, and very importantly, comfy sandals as the ground is cobbled and hilly.

6: Have evening dinner in the Orange Square – Dinner in the Orange Square is an experience that everyone should have on their visit to Marbella. The ambiance and setting is the perfect way to spend a romantic evening having dinner and wine over candle light. The seating is set outside, under the night sky surrounded by greenery, flowers and the backdrop of the white washed walls of the surrounding buildings. ‘Dressy dress’ is usually the dress code for dinner in the Orange Square but I would advise to wear flat sandals to compliment your outfit as the walk to the Square is not kind to heels.

7: Visit The Boardwalk Restaurant for lunch – The Boardwalk, located right on the beach front is my favourite stop to come for lunch. I love to come here between 12 and 3 when the sun is hottest. The menu is the perfect menu for all tastes. Dress code for ‘The boardwalk’ is casual during the day and dressy at night. I like to come for lunch in a light summer dress that is floaty but more covered up that a beach kimono.

8: Have cocktails at the Astral Bar – When visiting Puerto Banús a great place to make your first stop is the Astral Bar. The cocktails are like works of art and there are so many to choose from.  During the day glam beach wear is the perfect outfit choice to wear to have a few daytime cocktails.

9: Visit the Marina in the Port –  Taking a stroll down the Marina after you have done the cycle from Marbella will leave you in awe of all the wealth and beautiful yachts that are docked in the port. Everything, style wise goes in Puerto Banús, you can go full on glam or semi-casual for a day or evening in the Port. You will be surrounded by all the designer stores from Valentino to Gucci to admire the latest collections from the couture design houses.

10: Have a midnight stroll on the golden mile – On your last night in Marbella, the perfect way to end your trip is to stroll along the Boardwalk after dinner and take in the sound of the waves crashing and the beautiful mood, set by the street lamps. I like to save my favourite outfit till last and dress glam glam on my last night. Usually a long flowing dress with statement earrings makes for the perfect look to finish off your Marbella holiday in style!
